The Music of the Pearl

The last line of the pearl I think means that Kino's life will be much better now, because over all the pearl was very bad in Kino's life. The repeated "music of the pearl" in the story seemed to mostly occur when at first good things were happening, and then bad things as times got worse for Kino, so as the music of the pearl, and the pearl itself drift away, all of the bad thing that happened also are leaving Kino's life. And how the music drifted to a whisper and then disappeared, I think symbolizes how the pearl was very slowly leaving Kino's life, because he could have not thrown it into the water, or retrieved it from the water before it completely sunk. But instead he let it go.... Something like that. Also, as the pearl and the music of it drift away, the evil of the pearl is also leaving Kino's life, so he will be able to return to a (mostly) normal life now. In the entire society that Kino lived in, the pearl symbolized the greed within everyone, so the whole town should be a better place as well, when the pearl leaves. Overall the pearl had a devastating effect on Kino's family, because there house was burnt down, and the had to leave their home and their friends and family, so Juana and Coyotito are probably very happy to see the pearl drifting away. But deep within Kino's mind, I think there might be a hint of sadness to watch it go. Just because of how much he had gone through, trying to keep it safe.
